The journal
The Practicing Endoscopist is adding a peer-reviewed journal track for selected cases, technical notes, and clinical images. The existing teaching archive stays editor-reviewed and is not relabeled as peer reviewed.
What this page is
This is the public record for the journal track: title, publisher, issn pending (online), scope, and the policies that will govern peer-reviewed articles. Teaching cases continue to publish on the main site under the editorial standards already in force.
Scope
Practice-oriented GI endoscopy for clinicians. Journal-track article types:
- Case report
- Clinical image
- Technical note
- Procedural review
We do not publish original clinical trials, industry-sponsored content, or articles aimed at patients. Off-label device or drug use must be labeled as such.
How the two tracks work
Teaching track (current archive): editor review by Klaus Mönkemüller for accuracy, images, and teaching value. These articles are educational cases. They are not peer-reviewed journal articles.
Journal track (opening): external peer review, required declarations, and received / accepted / published dates. Only articles that complete that process will be labeled peer reviewed.
The journal track opens when the ISSN is assigned and at least five editorial board members are seated. Until then, new cases still go through the teaching-case form.
Publication model
Continuous online publication. A teaching dispatch is emailed every other Saturday. Journal-track articles will appear on this site with their own dates and will not be held for an issue number unless we later add volumes.
Open access and charges
Journal-track articles will be free to read. There is no submission fee and no article processing charge. Authors keep copyright and license the work under CC BY-NC 4.0. Full terms are on Policies.
